Support for settings

For those settings who have their SENCo Surgeries with Tina Arterton or Lisa Omer, please could you contact the EY team on 01634 334016 and 01634 331194 in the first instance if you need SEND support.  Then a member of the team will contact you.

SEN Training

Training confirmation will be emailed to delegates who are expected to attend SEN courses. Please ensure that only the named member of staff on the email confirmation attends on the day as spaces are very limited in accordance to health and safety regulations. Most of the  training sessions are held at the Medway Council Gun Wharf office except for the Sensory Practical Workshop on 20 June 2019, which will be at Twydall Children and Family Wellbeing Centre.

DAF Funding

Below is the DAF information taken from the Education & Skills Funding Agency Early Years entitlements: local authority funding of providers – Operational guide 2018 and 2019, February 2018 issue.

Timing of payments

74. The DAF is intended to aid disabled children’s access to the free entitlements. Therefore, local authorities must issue DAF payments to providers as soon as possible when the child takes up the universal 15 hours entitlement for three and four year olds. So, for example, if a child turns three in the summer term, they will be able to take up their entitlement in the autumn term and local authorities should issue the first DAF payment as quickly as possible in that term. Where children are still eligible for the DAF, providers should receive a second payment one year later; that is, one year after they first received the DAF.
