Early Years Foundation Stage Framework Briefing
by Tracey Wilson - Thursday, 20 September 2007, 9:35 PM

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) will be statutory from September 2008. It brings together principles and effective practice from Birth to Three Matters and the Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage together with elements of the National Standards for Under 8s Day Care and Childminding.

From September 2008 all registered settings, including childminders, must comply with the learning and development and welfare requirements and have regard for the best of the EYFS guidance.

In order to support practitioners in Medway we shall be offering each setting two places at an Early Years Framework Briefing during a focused week at the end of September 2007. Settings should carefully consider who they wish to nominate to attend the briefing, we would suggest it would be most suitable for practitioners who will have the responsibility for the leadership and management of EYFS.

The briefing will provide practitioners with guidance to the structure of the EYFS framework, the statuary and guidance elements and how they will work together.

Practitioners will be supported over the next year through centralised and area based training alongside in-setting support by members of the Learning and Support Team to to prepare for using EYFS from September 2008.

PLEASE BRING YOUR COPY OF THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE
TO THE BRIEFING SESSION.
