Changes to CAF

Below are details of the new forms, revised training arrangement and dates and a summary of the major changes.

From today a new CAF form is being used in Medway - please make sure you visit the Medway Children's Trust website www.medwaychildrenstrust.co.uk/working-together/common-assessment-framework/downloads/ to see all the up to date forms and supporting documents or www.e-learningatlast.org.uk

Please discard all old versions of the forms and supporting documents.

The major changes are:

- the form has been made simpler with less repetition in the concluding sections

- new sibling CAF forms for up to 5 children and up to 10 children in the same household are now available

- each child will be issued with a unique CAF case number when you ring to register the piece of CAF work you are starting

- you are being asked to provide an "open" score for each element of the CAF form for each child/young person using the Distance Travelled scoring guidance.  This is decided with the child/young person/parent/carer when you have your CAF conversation

- when the CAF closes you decide the "close" score for each element of the CAF form for each child/young person (there is also an option to complete the scores at each review meeting to see progress throughout)

- the aim of the Distance Travelled scoring is to give a clear idea of what is changing for the child/young person as a result of the CAF process and this is part of the Quality Assurance framework

- CAF forms, Delivery Plan and TAC notes etc only need to be sent to the CAF team when the CAF closes

On e-learningatlast you can access  a copy of the up to date CAF Process Checklist for Assessors and Lead Professionals which provides a step by step guide to the Medway CAF process (all earlier versions and the old What and When chart should be discarded as they are out of date).

Distance Travelled scoring

Drop in sessions about the new Distance Travelled scoring are being held at Gun Wharf 10-12noon on 12 July, 14 September and 14 October.  You are very welcome to come along to discuss how this can be used.
