The purpose of the progress check at age two is to celebrate all children’s
achievements, supporting their next steps in development and highlighting
concerns where appropriate so that effective early intervention can be
identified and implemented. The revised Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS 2014) places greater
emphasis on partnership with parents and early identification of
developmental needs so that timely and appropriate additional support can be
put in place.
